The Transportation Worker Identity Card (TWIC) is a card that is issued by the United States Transportation Security Administration and the United States Coast Guard. Individuals must have a TWIC to gain access to secured maritime facilities.

When Carriers are delivering and picking up cargo from ports they sometimes must drive beyond the areas where civilians are allowed. Carriers will need a TWIC to drive in secure areas within a port facility.
